Field Engineering Technician (Kaukauna, WI)

Position Summary

We are looking for a Field Engineering Technician out of Kaukauna, WI.  Ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of AutoCAD, 3D files and construction layout.  They will also be able to perform field work duties, operate a Trimble Robotic Total Station/GPS system and have experience with a variety of commercial construction projects.  This is a full-time position that offers a competitive wage and a comprehensive benefits package including ownership in our 100% Employee Owned Company. Essential Functions

  • CAD/BIM file set up to include: scaling of files, merging and coordinating CAD files, creation of project data files needed for use in field tablets and testing of project data files
  • Validate accurate dimensions by reviewing the civil, architectural and structural drawings prior to execution
  • Identify discrepancies in drawings prior to execution
  • Deliver layout information to the project team to ensure proper execution
  • Set up and maintain permanent control points throughout the project
  • Layout and field engineering activities include:
    • Establish control lines from control points
    • Layout foundations
    • Layout vertical formwork such as columns and walls
    • Establish elevation control points
    • Layout required embeds block-outs and other items required
  • Assist in the performance of a variety of surveying activities
  • Maintain proper usage and storage of all surveying equipment
  • Contribute to the team effort by accomplishing related assignments as needed
  • Ability to grow and expand the department and use Trimble Robotic Total Station/GPS for other aspects of construction
  • Other duties as assigned

Experience & Requirements:

  • Education:
    • High School Diploma, required
    • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in engineering (or related field) , preferred
  • Experience in field engineering, surveying, and layout for a large scale self-perform general contractor or concrete contractor, preferred
  • Proficient in the use of AutoCAD, Excel and Procore software applications, required
  • Proficient with the use of advanced instruments and total station to perform accurate field surveying and layout, required
  • Knowledge of construction principles/practices, required
  • Some overnight travel, required
  • Valid driver’s license, required
