The Town of Newton has officially broken ground on a new 15,194-square-foot fire station that will serve as the home for both the Newton Fire Department and Newton First Responders.
The new facility – located directly across from the existing fire station – represents years of planning, public input, and strong community support for improved emergency services in Manitowoc County.
The current station, built decades ago, has long outgrown the needs of the department. Fire trucks have been stored off-site, training and meeting areas are limited, and there is little space for firefighter rehabilitation or equipment maintenance. The new, ground-up facility will address these challenges head-on – providing dedicated vehicle bays, gear storage, training and meeting rooms, administrative offices, and areas for firefighter rest and recovery.
When complete, the new fire station will enhance emergency response times, improve operational efficiency, and provide a modern, safe, and functional environment for the Town’s firefighters and first responders to serve the community effectively.
A defining aspect of this project is the community-driven support that made it possible. In Spring 2025, Town of Newton residents voted in favor of a public referendum to fund the new facility – demonstrating a clear commitment to strengthening local emergency services and investing in long-term community safety.
The Town of Newton selected Keller, Inc. as the Architect and Construction Manager for the project, based on Keller’s proven expertise in public safety facility design and strong track record of delivering high-quality municipal projects throughout Wisconsin.
Construction is scheduled to begin this winter, with completion anticipated in Summer 2026.
