About Keller

Keller Structures was founded in 1960 by Walter Keller, who recognized a need in the farming community for buildings to store equipment and feed. Starting with just nine employees and no prior construction experience, Keller’s first project was completed that same year. Over the next several decades, Keller expanded into the commercial and industrial industries, while maintaining its agricultural roots. In 1986, Walter sold the company to its employees through an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), instilling a culture of ownership and dedication. 

Throughout the 1990s and 2000s, Keller continued to grow, becoming Wisconsin’s largest employee-owned design-build firm by 1998. The company rebranded to Keller, Inc. in 2003 to reflect its expanded services and opened satellite offices in Milwaukee, Wausau, and Madison. 

Today, Keller remains an industry leader with over 275 employee-owners, committed to Walter’s original vision of treating every project as if it were their own. Their success is a testament to the power of hard work, integrity, and employee ownership. As we move forward, Keller remains dedicated to building strong relationships and creating exceptional projects, ensuring that the legacy of ownership and excellence continues to thrive for years to come.

At Keller, we’ve made safety a top priority and our efforts have more than paid off.  Our efforts in incident prevention start at the highest levels of leadership and management.  The comprehensive set of safety guidelines we’ve developed teaches every Keller employee in practices and procedures that protect them from injury. 

These efforts have more than paid off, and reflect in the 2023 Workers Compensation Modification (Mod) factor of 0.64 and our 2023 S.T.E.P Bronze Safety Award presented to us by Associated Builders and Contractors of Wisconsin.
